Workshop: Monotypes with Sarah Humby and Jayne Soakell

Sarah Humby and Jayne Soakell followed up their highly entertaining monotype demo with a highly enjoyable workshop.

They brought along all of the tools and materials needed to produce monotypes along with a collection of mini printing presses. They began with a demo to recap the main points of mono printing techniques, offered a few suggestions and set us free to experiment with the piles of feathers, acetate, doilies and ink scattered down the tables.

We had such fun. We quickly learned that one print leads to another and we were soon producing multi-layered prints of increasing complexity. Sarah and Jayne circulated, egging us on to try this and that, slipping in additional techniques as they went.

By the end of the day each of us had produced at least half a dozen interesting prints.
