Open Call for Art

Something of interest to all of our members who enjoy painting animals and local landscape. The Russell-Cotes Gallery and Museum in Bournemouth has organised a major exhibition by Lucy Kemp-Welch, a local artist who was famous for her paintings of horses.

Their press release says:

The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is running an open call and competition for artwork and photography responding to our current exhibition. The two main themes are: wildlife and animals (in particular equine/horse subjects) Landscape (especially Bournemouth, Dorset and New Forest) accepted media include; drawing, painting, photography, collage and printmaking.  Full terms and conditions are here.

It’s free and very easy to enter. You just complete the submission form and upload your art to social media, tagged as described. The work will be judged and winners will form part of the online exhibition, among other prizes. The deadline for entries is 31st August.

The exhibition itself is well worth a visit - Lucy’s paintings are lovely.
