Workshop: Maxine Marsh - Allotment Joy

Members had great fun at a watercolour workshop with Maxine Marsh on the last Saturday of March.

The morning was spent practising various techniques on depictions of individual vegetables - wet-in-wet, applying salt, edge blending, three stage build up, stepping back, pen detail, splattering and much more. We explored the freedom of using a large brush along with a rigger for expressive strokes.

Then in the afternoon, fired with enthusiasm and confidence, we embarked on larger compositions. “I’m getting really excited!” exclaimed one participant as interesting effects appeared through using Maxine’s suggestions to enhance light and depth.
