Plein Air: The Arboro Lounge

This month, our plein air artists swapped the bracing fresh air, glorious views and helpful wildlife for the Arboro Lounge in Ringwood.

It was an experiment. Could they cope with with a warm, cosy room with comfortable seats and friendly staff offering easy access to coffee and delicious cake?

Oh, yes, they could.

They settled in next to the cheerful WI meet up and drank in their surroundings. Interiors pose a quite different challenge to rolling countryside. The edges are harder, the angles more complex, the colours richer and deeper. The light is softer and comes from different directions - and the shadows are much more interesting. (If the light is amber, what colour is the shade?)

The people move.

We decided this was a good start but more practice was called for. We need to try more interiors.

Lots of thanks to the lovely folks at the Arboro Lounge for allowing us in.
