Workshop Day - Sue Smith Collage.

Saturday workshop tuition with Sue Smith

This workshop is open to the public to book at £35 for the day.

About Sue -

I have always loved to draw and paint.   It wasn't until moving to Bournemouth in 2001 that I decided to take it more seriously and I had some professional watercolour instruction learning many new techniques.  Then in 2008 I found myself signed to an Agency who employed teachers of art on cruise liners. I have since then been lucky enough to travel the world doing what I love to do and pass on my knowledge of watercolour techniques.

I now do regular demonstrations to local art groups, teach in my studio at home to small groups, and Chair a local Art Group as well as being a member of two more groups.  My first love is watercolour although I am a pastel painter as well; having this year had a pastel accepted in the Patchings International Open Art Exhibition in Nottingham.

In 2010 I was Highly Commended in the SAA Artist of the Year Competition.

Workshop Day - Virginia Whiting Cold Wax

We welcome Virginia Whiting for a morning’s tuition - Using Cold Wax

This workshop is open to the public to book at £25 for the day. There is an additional charge for any materials provided by the Tutor.

I am primarily a painter of contemporary landscapes and seascapes having been born and brought up in rural Northamptonshire with the freedom to roam and develop the love of the countryside which has always inspired my work.

Based in Cranborne Chase for over thirty years, I now feel a strong engagement with the rolling chalk downlands and woodlands close to my home, as well as the nearby New Forest. The rugged coastal areas of North Cornwall and Pembrokeshire, which I have visited regularly since childhood, are another deeply important influence.

Plein Air Day

Plein Air meeting Wednesday 5th July will be Kingston Firs

It is a little tricky to find but hopefully the map will help. If you put Kingston Firs, Ringwood into your Sat Nav it will get you there. It is an un-made-up road opposite Rod Lane and off the main Ringwood , Christchurch road 3 miles north of The New Queen 1.5 miles south of the Texaco station on the edge of Ringwood. Once on the track keep going with Kingston Firs on your left until you get to an open bit of grass where you can park. There's all sorts to paint, a couple of cottages, woodland, open grass, horses and a pond a short easy walk away. No loos... but maybe lunch at the New Queen?

Michael Parker - Workshop Day - Painting in Oils using a palette knife

In todays workshop we welcome Michael Parker and tutoring in the art of palette knife painting.

 Workshop attendees will need…

1 a 500x400  (16”x20”) minimum size canvas

2 Paints , oil or acrylic, as many colours as possible. Especially some veridian green,

3 palette knives, The Range sell a cheap set , ( less than a fiver) that would be perfectly adequate, but certainly they need one as large as possible.

4 A kitchen roll and cloths.

5 a palette or board for mixing paint.
