Plein Air: Burley

Tuesday didn’t look very promising for our first Wednesday plein air painting session, but we held our nerve, as the day brightened and the forecast looked promising. Dressed for the arctic, we descended on Burley and, paint brushes at the ready, prepared to do battle!

We were blessed with a glorious morning, kissed by the warmth of the sun and delighted by the birdsong. We really didn’t need to be quite so wrapped up although fingerless gloves were very useful.

Most of us chose Burley Manor as our focal point but there was also the option of a Shepherd’s Hut as well as majestic oak trees and, under the sunlight, glowing beech hedgerows. There was also a herd of deer on the horizon, but they didn’t make it into any paintings.

It was great to blow away the cobwebs and be outside painting again and the location was enjoyed by all, as was the coffee shop at the end of the morning. Hopefully we will see more of you at our next venue.
