Workshop: Maxine Marsh - Still Life in Watercolour and Ink

Maxine knows how to inspire artists trying something new. She took us gently through each stage. She reminded us how to draw still life objects accurately but lightly on the watercolour paper, using a ruler and symmetry to guide us. We then blocked in the first layer of colour, added the more intense inks and then finished off with the details. Maxine demonstrated each stage, circulating round to make sure we were on track.

It was a great confidence builder and some super work was produced.

A very enjoyable day, helped along by the arrival of a bakers’ tray of chocolate croissants that were surplus to someone’s requirements. We dealt with them…
