Workshop: Catherine Beale - Portraying Light in the Landscape using Watercolour
Catherine began by recapping her techniques from the demo. She had provided a picture to work from, although some artists had brought their own. She divided the session up into stages based on her reference picture with a demo, then time for members to try out the techniques on their paintings. She worked with each individual artist, advising and encouraging.
The emphasis was on exploiting the way watercolour paint moved and flowed. Layers of colour were added, allowing the paint to dry naturally - wet in wet, wet in dry, lifting out and adding detail using a rigger.
Some terrific work was produced. It was a real confidence-boosting workshop.
