Out and about: Knoll Gardens

Earlier this month, six members took up the offer from Knoll Gardens to spend a day drawing and painting in their grounds as part of Foundation Fridays. It’s an annual project where art and photography groups are invited to experience the value of nature through art for free.

During the heatwave, it was certainly a welcome retreat amongst the leafy glades and we all felt a sense of quiet and wellbeing in the surroundings. There was an abundance of interesting and unusual plants, trees and grasses; each way we turned there was another scene ripe for capture.

Christine Ingram found it a very relaxing day and particularly noticed the variety of picturesque viewpoints with seats thoughtfully placed encouraging you to sit for a while and chill. “I had a really enjoyable day painting in the gardens and was made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff,” she said, “I intend to re visit in the autumn and spring to see the different colour palettes.”
