Jean M. Baylis

Approaching Storm by Jean BaylisArt is a thread that has run throughout Jean’s life and family, from design and painting to acting. Although she chose a different career, her talent for observation and love of the natural landscape led her back to art later in life.

After successfully completing City & Guilds Mixed Media and Visual Techniques, Jean went on to study Art & Design at The Arts University College Bournemouth and gained a Foundation Degree in June 2011. Following further study at the Norfolk Oil Painting School using traditional techniques, Jean went on to study paint making and life painting at the Kensington Palace Studios of the Prince’s Drawing School.

Jean enjoys experimenting with various media and strives to emulate nature’s colours and textures in her work. She is best known for her landscapes and seascapes but also, for her use of light in life studies, equestrian and wildlife work.

Her work has been highly successful in the south of England exhibitions and galleries. Sales include collectors in the UK, Europe and New Zealand. Jean’s aim, is that a picture offers the viewer as much emotion and pleasure, as the inspiration and creation of it.
