Jan Hawker

Jan HawkerJan lives in Lymington and gets her inspiration predominantly from the surrounding sea and forest, but is also influenced by a variety of other subjects.

Jan is a member of the Ringwood Art Society, Lymington Art Group, New Forest Art Society, and an associate member of the Milford Art Group currently. She also paints regularly with the East Boldre Painters and Let’s Paint in Brockenhurst. She exhibits at annual exhibitions, and also at Art Festivals and other local events.

Her preferred media are Pastel and Acrylic.

She received recognition in both 2012 and 2014 for the Public’s Favourite painting at Lymington Art Group’s Spring Exhibition and for the best painting in the Wildlife Category in both 2014 and 2015. At the New Forest Art Society’s 50th Anniversary Summer Exhibition in 2014 members of the public voted her painting as the favourite in exhibition. She has also received awards at “Art on the Green” at Milford for two years in succession.

She paints a wide variety of subjects and particularly likes people and the way that their clothes fall in folds and shapes, and animals and birds and the delicate nature of their plumage and fur. She is also influenced by her home port with boats featuring regularly in her work.
